This week on The Jason Ross & Doug Christie Show, Fair Oaks native and San Francisco Giants rookie pitcher Sammy Long joined the show to talk about his MLB debut, what it was like to grow up as a fan of the early 2000’s Sacramento Kings and much more.

Interview with San Francisco Giants pitcher Sammy Long begins at the 21:00 mark

Long, 25, attended Del Campo High School in Fair Oaks before attending California State University, Sacramento. The left-hander was drafted in the 18th round by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2016 and later signed with the Giants prior to the 2021 season.

In his Major League debut against the Texas Rangers on June 9th, Long dealt four innings of one-run ball while striking out seven batters in what was an impressive showcase by the local talent.

Over the course of the interview, Long lays out his road to the big leagues, explains how he stayed ready even during the cancellation of the 2020 minor league season and much more.
