This week on The Carmichael Dave Show with JayMarzz, Oakland Athletics lefty Sean Manaea joined the show to discuss Oakland’s strong start to the season, preview the upcoming Bay Bridge Series and much more.

Interview with Athletics pitcher Sean Manaea begins at the 32:50 mark

After beginning the season with a rough April 4th start against the Houston Astros (4.2 IP, 5 ER, 3 BB), Manaea has settled into a groove over his last 14 starts. Since losing to the Astros in his first start, the left-hander has gone 6-2 with a 2.63 ERA and 85 strikeouts over 82 innings pitched.

In his most recent start on June 20th, the 29-year-old tallied a career-high 11 strikeouts while allowing only two runs in a slim loss to the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Manaea has made quite the case to secure his first-ever American League All-Star bid, with full rosters set to be revealed in the coming days prior to the July 13th midsummer classic.

Manaea will get the ball on Friday night in the opening game of the Bay Bridge Series, as the A’s will face the San Francisco Giants–current holder of the best record in all of Major League Baseball.
