Oakland is tooled up for a postseason run
The Oakland Athletics acquired infielder Josh Harrison and catcher Yan Gomes from the Washington Nationals, per Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Both players are on expiring contracts and will become free agents at the end of the season.
Harrison, a two-time All-Star, is a utility-man that can play second base, third base and outfield. The 34-year-old is batting .294 with six home runs, 23 doubles, 38 RBI an .800 on base plus slugging percentage.
Gomes, a one-time All-Star and Silver Slugger award winner, will provide the A’s with some depth behind starting catcher Sean Murphy. The 34-year-old backstop has hit nine home runs over 278 plate appearances.
In return for Harrison and Gomes, Oakland sent minor leaguers catcher Drew Millas, and right-handed pitchers Richard Guasch and Seth Shuman.
