Sacramento’s man in the middle is back for the long-haul

He’s back.

Richaun Holmes and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to reunite on a four-year, $55 million deal that will run through the 2024-25 season.

The deal will include a player option and trade kicker, Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Holmes, who has become a fan-favorite in Sacramento due to his hustle and passion on the floor, has enjoyed back-to-back career seasons with the Kings.

β€œThis is a great day for Richaun and the entire Kings organization,” said Kings GM Monte McNair. β€œRichaun brings toughness, skill and versatility to the court. His energy is the perfect fit for our style of play and he represents the values of this organization. I’m excited to see what the future holds for him and this tremendously talented team we’re building.”

“I am thankful to Vivek and Monte for this opportunity to continue my career in Sacramento. I’ve played some of my best basketball in Sacramento but the best is yet to come. I look forward to continuing to push towards the playoffs and beyond,” Holmes said of the deal.

The 27-year-old signed a two-year, $9.7 million deal with the Kings prior to the 2019-20 season. Coming into the 2019-20 season, Holmes held career averages of 7.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game on 56-percent shooting from the field over four seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers (2015-18) and Phoenix Suns (2018-19).

In his two seasons as a Sacramento King, Holmes has turned into one of the most efficient centers in the NBA–offensively and defensively.

Holmes posted 13.4 points, 8.2 rebounds, 0.8 steals and 1.4 blocks per game while shooting a scorching 64-percent from the field and just under 80-percent on the free throw attempts during the 2019-21 seasons while notching 34 double-doubles over 105 contests.
