Khrush Davis has rejoined the Oakland A’s Major League roster

When Khris Davis was traded to the Texas Rangers in exchange for shortstop Elvis Andrus last offseason, it was the end of an era.

‘Khrush’ made his mark on the Oakland A’s with his notable power during the 2016-2018 seasons where he drilled at least 40 home runs and drove in over 100 runs. By trading Davis, the A’s were saying goodbye to a player that was a staple in the lineup for some talented teams.

Well, that goodbye was certainly short-lived.

Davis was recalled from the AAA Las Vegas roster on Wednesday morning as Major League rosters expand from 26 to 28 players for September call-ups.

After struggling with Texas this season, the Rangers released Davis back on June 13th. Oakland signed Davis to a minor league deal on August 4th and assigned him to Arizona’s Rookie League to get into game shape.

Davis was then sent to AAA Las Vegas where he has absolutely dismantled minor league pitching, batting .333 with a .921 slugging percentage over 16 games. The 33-year-old has mashed 10 home runs and driven in 25 RBI over those 16 games, proving that he still has something left in the tank.

Oakland will hope that Davis can provide the A’s lineup a boost as they chase the Houston Astros in the American League West standings and the Boston Red Sox in the American League Wild Card standings.
