Earlier Friday, it was reported by Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania that the Kings had signed the 23-year old guard to an offer sheet. Chicago has 48 hours to match the offer sheet and plan to do so before the deadline.
LaVine had told ESPN’s Marc Spears that the Bulls original offer “not nearly as strong as the Kings.”
“I’m disappointed that I had to get an offer sheet from another team,” LaVine said. “But Sacramento stepped up and made a strong impression. It appears that Sacramento wants me more than Chicago.”
