Sacramento Kings Head Coach Luke Walton Joins The Jason Ross Show

After beginning the 2021-22 regular season with a thrilling win over the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings head coach Luke Walton joined The Jason Ross Show on Thursday afternoon to discuss the victory and preview Friday night’s home opener against the Utah Jazz.
Sacramento led by as many as 18 points during Wednesday’s opener before Portland made things interesting late.
The Kings were able to hold the Blazers off to pick up an impressive 124-121 win at the Moda Center, a place that the team has historically struggled over the years.
“It’s important,” Walton said of the win. “It’s important because we have a lot of good things going for us right now. It’s easier to come off of a game with that momentum that we should have won with how we played, and finishing that with a win, especially that first win of the season. It makes coming back home and getting ready for the next one much more enjoyable.”
Next up for the Kings will be a tough test on Friday night against last season’s number-one seed in the Western Conference, Rudy Gobert and the Utah Jazz.
Walton spoke about how he expects his players to attack the lengthy big during Friday night’s home opener.
“If you’re going to go in there and attack, you have to really go in physically and really try to get into his chest and finish at the rim, or shoot one of those floaters before you get to him,” Walton said. “We want to be in attack mode.”
