Matt Chapman, Sean Murphy Named Gold Glove Award Winners

Oakland Athletics third baseman Matt Chapman and catcher Sean Murphy were named Rawlings Gold Glove Award winners on Sunday afternoon, with both players being rewarded for their impressive glove work at their respective defensive positions.
Chapman claimed his third Gold Glove (2018, 2019, 2021) of his career while Murphy will be taking home the first of his young career.
A’s first baseman Matt Olson (Gold Glove in 2018 & 2019) lost out to Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel for the award this season.
Chapman led all American League third baseman with 17 outs above average in 2021, 10 more than the next closest player (Cleveland Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez). Chapman also led AL third basemen in assists (274), double plays (39), fielding percentage (.987) and putouts (166) in what was an overall solid bounce-back year for the 27-year-old.
Sean Murphy led all American League catchers with eight runs saved from pitch framing and ranked second in defensive runs saved among catchers (10).
