Rocklin native Logan Webb delivered another masterful performance during Wednesday’s 2-1 win over the San Diego Padres at Oracle Park.

The San Francisco Giants right-hander struck out seven batters and allowed just one run on four hits over a career-high eight innings as the Padres were unable to string anything together on the offensive end.

Over two starts this season, Webb is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA, 10 strikeouts, one walk, and a WHIP of 0.71 over 14 innings pitched.

“He was fantastic,” Padres manager Bob Melvin said. “He’s a number-one starter for a reason, on a really good team. He’s got a really good sinker, really good changeup off that and a good breaking ball. Once he got past the first inning he really got into a rhythm.”

Webb has been on an absolute tear since last season, especially at Oracle Park. The Giants have won 15-straight starts at home with the 25-year-old on the bump.

Outfielder Luke Williams’ two-out double in the second inning would provide Webb with all of the offense he needed on Wednesday as San Francisco secured its second-straight series victory to begin the season.

The Giants’ 4-2 start is the team’s best six-game opening to a season since the 2016 squad also went 4-2 en route to securing a National League Wild Card berth.

Next up for the Giants: an off day on Thursday before opening up a three-game set against the Cleveland Guardians in Ohio.
