Mike Brown’s staff is starting to come together.

According to Marc J. Spears of Andscape, Luke Loucks–the current Basketball Strategy and Personnel Evaluation of the Phoenix Suns–has agreed to join new Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown’s staff.

Loucks, 32, has coached alongside Brown with the Golden State Warriors and is currently on Brown’s staff with the Nigerian men’s basketball team.

Since the beginning of the 2016-17 season, Loucks has worked his way up from a paid internship position with the Warriors to become the team’s two-way player development coach in 2017-18. From 2019 to 2021, Loucks served as one of Golden State’s player development coaches before accepting a position in Phoenix.

Brown, who is currently still on Steve Kerr’s staff as the Warriors close in on another NBA Finals appearance, will not be introduced as Sacramento’s head coach until the conclusion of Golden State’s season.

Although the Warriors have continued to go full steam ahead towards the Finals, Brown has started piecing together his staff for his new position over the past week.

Last Wednesday, the Kings announced the hiring of Jordi Fernández as Brown’s associate head coach.

Fernández, 39, has coached alongside Brown on the Nigeria men’s basketball team since the 2020 Olympic games. For three seasons, Fernández served as an assistant and head coach in the G-League for the Canton Charge before making the jump to the NBA in 2016.

After six seasons on Michael Malone’s bench in Denver, Fernández will join forces with Brown in Sacramento.

NBA insider Marc Stein shared on Friday that Brown will also be hiring Charlotte Hornets’ lead assistant Jay Triano to his staff. Triano, 63, has been coaching at the NBA level since the 2002-03 season.

Lastly, former Sacramento Kings guard Doug Christie will be a holdover from Luke Walton’s staff and join Brown’s bench next season.

Christie served as an assistant coach under Walton and interim head coach Alvin Gentry last season and even served as a fill-in head coach for a week while Gentry went through Health & Safety protocols.
