It was just a normal Sunday afternoon of household chores and NBA playoffs when this tweet happened:
League sources: In addition to tournaments in Las Vegas and Utah, the NBA plans to introduce a 2018 Sacramento Summer League. The event is tentatively scheduled to include the Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat.

First off, this isn’t confirmed, but Ben is a respected guy who would be very unlikely just to throw out something so specific just for funsies.
Second, no idea if this is a mini-league all to itself in addition to Vegas (likely), or its own league instead of Vegas. The former is most likely true, which also begs the question: Why Miami?
As someone who makes the trek to Vegas every year to see the Kings Kids try to work things out, I can tell you this is fantastic. Visiting Vegas in July is like walking behind a school bus with your face next to the exhaust pipe. I won’t know what hell is like for another few years, but I imagine it will be something like Las Vegas in July.
Obviously though, the chance for Sacramento fans (and those out oft owners coming in with their money) to see a Summer League, and likely some future stars- is fantastic. This is the type of thing that was envisioned with the new arena was built. And more than likely, this is probably a stop gap from the NBA as an apology for not being to hold an all-star game here (hotel situation). Stay tuned.
