San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster has been officially charged with domestic violence after being arrested in February for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. If convicted, Foster could face more than 11 years in prison.

The full list of charges includes felony counts of domestic violence with an allegation he inflicted great bodily injury, forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime, and possession of an assault weapon. Also, Foster has been charged with a misdemeanor count of possession of a large-capacity weapon magazine.

According to the court release on Thursday, the victim told police that Foster “dragged her by her hair, physically threw her out of the house and punched her in the head eight to 10 times”. Her injuries included multiple bruises and a ruptured eardrum.

The San Francisco 49ers released the following statement:

Not electing to immediately cut him, the 49ers are waiting for more information through the court system, and likely a conviction, before taking action.

Foster, 23, appeared in 10 games last season for San Francisco, finishing with 59 total tackles.
