The son of former Sacramento Kings coach Rick Adelman was killed last week in a car accident, according to Good Day Sacramento.

R.J. Adelman was crossing the street when he was struck by a female driver on Feb. 2.

Reports indicate that Adelman was not using a crosswalk, and the woman was questioned on-site but not charged.

Adelman served as a scout for the Kings under his father and was later hired as an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets. He was 44-years-old.

GM Vlade Divac released the following statement on Thursday:

“I am beyond heartbroken to learn of R.J.’s death and offer my deepest sympathy to Rick, Mary Kay and their children, Kathryn and David. R.J.”
