The San Francisco 49ers offensive line just found itself some bad news as the team announced that offensive tackle Trent Brown will be having season-ending surgery on an injured shoulder he suffered back in November.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area broke the news Friday afternoon.
Brown suffered the injury on Thanksgiving during practice and missed the following game against the Seahawks.
He returned to the lineup but missed last week’s game game against Texans and hadn’t practiced this week.
Brown started all 16 games last season. The issue arises with his top backups as Garry Gilliam (knee) and Erik Magnuson (foot) are both on injured reserve.
Zane Beadles is the 49ers’ fourth option at right tackle and will likely take his place of the rest of the season. He started at the position last week in the team’s 26-16 over Houston.
