According to Sports Illustrated, Piscotty will now be closer to his mother, who lives in Pleasanton and has ALS.
St. Louis Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said:
“There were certainly some other opportunities to move him elsewhere. When you’re looking at how to break a tie, clearly that did play into it.”
Piscotty, a graduate of Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton, batted .235 with nine home runs and 39 RBI in 107 games with St. Louis last year. Welcome back to the Bay, Stephen! #RootedInOakland pic.twitter.com/YmNefijZJv

The Oakland Athletics are reportedly in discussions with St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Stephen Piscotty.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, a trade may come before the end of the winter meetings.
The Cardinals reportedly have a deal in place for Miami Marlins outfielder Marcell Ozuna. That would free them up to deal Piscotty.
