San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo were at the podium this afternoon to discuss and answer questions about the team’s upcoming trip to Houston to face the Texans.
When a reporter asked Garoppolo about people comparing him to Joe Montana, he answered with a smile but honest response.
“I think I’ve done a pretty good job my whole career not listening to any of the outside stuff. But Joe Montana comparisons, I think it’s a little early for those. It’s only been one game,” Garoppolo said.

Garoppolo completed 26 of 37 passes for 293 yards and one interception in the 49ers’ 15-14 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
So far, he’s started three games and played in four overall between San Francisco and the New England Patriots. He currently holds a 6-1 TD-INT ratio and a 102.4 passer rating.
He’s been confirmed to start Sunday’s meeting against the Texans and will remain sitting at the top of the depth list over quarterback CJ Beathard.
