The NFL is partnering up with players to donate nearly $100 million to “effect social justice change,” according to ESPN.

The league submitted the proposed bill on Monday, to contribute to “causes considered important to African-American communities.”

The NY Post reports that the offer promises “at least $89 million” over a seven-year period.

Reports are indicating that the gesture is actually creating tensions among players. Some are calling it generous, and some are calling it “hush money” to stop national anthem protests.

Not everyone in the Players Coalition was on board to make this deal, and San Francisco 49ers Eric Reid spoke up on Twitter.

Reid, the first NFL player to kneel alongside Colin Kaepernick, announced his resignation from the coalition. Michael Thomas of the Miami Dolphins also resigned.

There is a scheduled conference call on Wednesday night to discuss the offer from the NFL.
