Even though the San Francisco 49ers did not play on Sunday because they were on bye week, they have strengthened their position in the 2018 NFL Draft in April.
Back on November 12, the 49ers defeated New York Giants 31-21 to earn their first win of the season. Both teams held a 1-9 record, with the Niners moving up to the no. 3 spot in the upcoming draft.
The Giants rebounded with a grueling win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, pushing their overall record to 2-9. The 49ers jumped up one spot yet again in the draft.
They could potentially eye the no. 1 pick. However, according to ESPN, the 49ers were unable to gain ground on the winless Cleveland Browns due to their lack of success.
This caused the 49ers to remain at the no. 2 position. They now have a 98.7 percent chance to have a top-five pick.
Other teams that are creeping for a top-five No. 1 position are:
The Cleveland Browns 0-10
The San Francisco 49ers 1-9
The Indianapolis Colts 3-7
The New York Giants 2-8
