Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen prefers to stay away from politics. However, when asked about Marshawn Lynch’s anthem protests and the negative response from President Donald Trump, Allen said he admired what Beast Mode is doing.
“I respect people that do what they believe with conviction,” Allen said when a TMZ reporter asked him about the national anthem demonstration in Mexico.
“You may not necessarily agree with it, but you gotta admire a person that stands up for what he believes in.”
Allen was drafted 10th overall by the Los Angeles Raiders in 1982 from USC. He won Super Bowl XVIII with his team and was Super Bowl MVP that year. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003.
