One quarterback is a three-time Pro Bowler and the other was making his first career NFL start. By the end of the night, the three-time Pro Bowler was on the bench and the quarterback making his debut had a near perfect passer rating.

Nick Mullens finished the night completing 16 of his 22 passes for three touchdowns and 262 yards good for a passer rating of 151.3 in the San Francisco 49ers 34-3 victory over the Oakland Raiders. Derek Carr was also 16 of 22 but only threw for 171 yards and zero touchdowns and was sacked six times. With 11:45 left in the game, Jon Gruden made the call to bench Carr in favor of AJ McCarron. McCarron would only throw the ball three times completing just once for eight yards.

The Raiders first drive of the night was their best drive as they ran ten plays for 56 yards resulting in a 37-yard field goal from Daniel Carlson to give the Raiders a quick 3-0 lead. Oakland wouldn’t have a drive of more than 50 yards for the rest of the game.

By the end of the half, the 49ers were up 17-3 after Mullens connected with Pierre Garcon on a 24-yard touchdown pass and a 4-yard touchdown pass to Kendrick Bourne. Mullens hit on his third touchdown of the game with 12:36 left in the third quarter on a 5-yard pass to George Kittle after Mullens connected on a 71-yard pass on a fantastic one-handed catch from Kittle.

Raheem Mostert was on pace to have the best game of his season, rushing the ball seven times for 86 yards and a 52-yard touchdown but appeared to suffer a serious arm injury after landing on it awkwardly.

The 49ers improved to 2-7 on the season as the Raiders lost their fourth game in a row, dropping to 1-7. The game was the last time these two teams played under the guise of “Battle of the Bay” as the Raiders will be moving to Las Vegas in the next couple of years.
