For the fourth time since 2004 and the second time since 2013, the Boston Red Sox are World Series champions after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1, winning the series in five games.

Steve Pearce was named World Series MVP after hitting .333 with three home runs, two of which came in Game 5, eight runs batted in, and a slugging percentage of 1.167.

Manager Alex Cora became just the fifth rookie manager to win the World Series and the first since Bob Brenly with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2001. Cora led the Red Sox to 108-54 record in the regular season making the Red Sox the thirteenth team since 1969 to win the World Series after having the best regular season record. Their 119 wins over the regular season and postseason is the second most wins by a championship team.
