It was reported late Sunday night by Raj Mathai of NBC Bay Area that the Oakland Raiders had come to an agreement with the San Francisco Giants to play their 2019 home games at Oracle Park. While it might be heading towards a deal, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reported that a deal is not done quite yet.
According to Pavlovic, a source told him the Giants were under the impression that the Raiders were looking at two other possible sites for the 2019 season.
Not only would the Raiders and Giants have to come to an agreement to share Oracle Park but the San Francisco 49ers would have to approve the move. The 49ers have territorial rights over San Francisco and sources have told Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area that the 49ers have not signed off to the potential Raiders move.
If the 49ers approve the move, the next step would be an approval from the NFL which seems like would happen. Commissioner Roger Goodell said last week that he hoped a deal would be made sometime in early February. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the NFL conducted a site survey of Oracle Park recently.
While the report from Mathai may have been premature, it sounds like San Francisco is the most likely home for the Silver and Black in 2019 at this point.
