Kyle Madson: Why I’m joining the KHTK blog

This was supposed to be my first blog for KHTK’s website. It wasn’t. I wrote something else beforehand. Honestly, nobody even asked me to write this. I’m doing this on my own. It was going to be this huge thing that I made a big deal out of even though all it is is me writing a few things a week to go along with my other duties at the station. Now it feels like it lost a lot of it’s fake luster.

Writing or the KHTK blog isn’t exactly a “new” opportunity. I’ve always been able to write, but now I get to write more as part of some expanded responsibilities at the radio station.

More work isn’t something people are generally happy to get at their job. However, this is something I’m genuinely excited about after two years of covering nothing but NFL football for USA TODAY’s NFL Wire Network. I’ll still fulfill my duties there (NinersWire.com. *DING*), but I’ll get to expand the scope of what I write about here.

My bosses have given me the freedom to write and cover, for the most part, whatever I want. Get excited for wall-to-wall coverage of next year’s Westminster Dog Show. Having an outlet to get things off my chest through writing has always been beneficial for me – a person who often reflects on what I said out loud and wishes for an opportunity to expand on my thoughts. KHTK’s blog is giving me that exact, very necessary avenue.

I’m super excited about joining the team and discussing the Kings, A’s, Sharks, Raiders, and whatever else happens to catch my eye in the ever-evolving, wild world of sports.

That feels like the necessary amount of pomp and circumstance.

Thanks for reading now and in the future. You couldn’t do it without me.

– Kyle
