The Sacramento Kings returned home for their first game inside the Golden 1 Center since February 10th, hosting the Eastern Conference leading Milwaukee Bucks. A great battle between the two teams, requiring overtime for a victor to be decided, was overshadowed by a potentially catastrophic injury to Marvin Bagley, who re-injured his left knee in the third quarter. The Bucks secured the 141-140 win, having to withstand a spirited push by the Kings late.

“I’m so proud of our guys” said head coach Dave Joerger, “We came back three separate times. We didn’t quit. We played like us”.

After a disappointing performance in Minnesota earlier this week, Sacramento’s offense came to play against the Bucks, building a 10 point lead early. However their success would not last long, as Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe and Malcom Brogdon brought the Bucks back, building up to a 17 point lead. The three combined for 72 of Milwaukee’s 141 points, with Bledsoe turning in a 26 point, 13 assist and 12 rebound triple-double.

Bucks superstar and perennial Kings killer Giannis Antetokounmpo had a relatively quiet night, scoring just 17 points in 24 minutes. He didn’t play a single second in overtime.

Bogdan Bogdanovic found himself back in the starting lineup for the Kings, and he responded with a 28 point, eight assist and eight rebound night. Buddy Hield led the Kings in scoring with 32.

The Kings took the lead at one point late in the 4th quarter, but Bledsoe and the Bucks were able to tie it back up and force overtime. Sacramento had a chance to win the game with 11 seconds left, but De’Aaron Fox was unable to get a shot off.

It was a playoff atmosphere inside the Golden 1 Center, and Joerger shared his desire to play the remainder of the season at home. “Our fans are just…that was really fun.”

Before his injury, Bagley turned in nine points and seven rebounds off the bench. He was diagnosed with a left knee sprain and will undergo an MRI tomorrow. Bagley was injured on a hard screen from Brogdon, that was deemed clean by the NBA officials.

Friday night the Sacramento Kings host the Los Angeles Clippers, who after losing to the Utah Jazz tonight are tied with the San Antonio Spurs for the 7th and 8th seeds, just two games above the Kings in 9th. The game is considered to be the biggest for Sacramento in over 12 years. The Kings are 0-3 against the Clippers this season.
