After trading back twice in the second round, the Oakland Raiders selected Clemson defensive back Trayvon Mullen with the No. 40 pick.
The Raiders started the day with the No. 35 pick but traded the pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Oakland received the No. 38 and the No. 109 picks while also sending the No. 140 and No. 235 picks with the No. 35.
They then turned around and sent the No. 38 pick to the Buffalo Bills for the No. 40 and No. 158 picks. With the No. 40 pick, the Raiders drafted another piece for their secondary in Mullen.
Mullen excels at man coverage but his footwork is inconsistent. He’s a high-ceiling type player and fills a need at the cornerback position for Oakland. In his junior season at Clemson, Mullen finished with three pass breakups and one interception. The lone interception came in the National Championship against Alabama which he returned 46 yards.
The Raiders will close out their draft with four scheduled picks on Saturday.
