The exploratory student from Rocklin, California, previously won College Sports Madness Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday, then added Big Sky ROOT SPORTS Defensive Player of the Week earlier on Monday.
It was sophomore Devon King's one-on-one defensive stop on the goal line, which forced a San Diego fumble that resulted in a touchback with two seconds remaining, that lifted the No. 4 Aggies a 38-35 win over San Diego on Saturday afternoon at Torero Stadium.
Jake Maier’s major passing totals of 1,003 attempts, 670 completions, 7,600 yards and 60 touchdowns have him in striking range of the UC Davis career benchmarks.

The student-athletes, coaches and staff received a tangible reminder of their achievements with a special presentation of championship rings at Aggie Stadium Monday morning.
Senior communication major TJ Shorts II and junior communication major Matt Neufeld led all scorers with 17 points in Saturday’s non-conference game at the Pavilion, junior communication major Rogers Printup came off the bench to score a season-high 13 points on 5 of 7 shooting overall, and freshman guard Caleb Fuller scored a career-high 12 points to help UC Davis defeat William Jessup, 83-65, in the final home game of 2018.
The Aggies improve to 10-2 for the year and will face Big Sky Conference rival Eastern Washington in next Saturday's quarterfinal. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. PST at Roos Field.
